Your Insurance Works Here. We Handle the Rest.

One of the most common questions new patients ask us is whether we accept their insurance. The honest answer is yes, we work with all insurances, and we also will file your claim to take the inconvenience and follow-up of filing off your plate. River Valley Dental operates as a fee-for-service, out-of-network practice, which means your care decisions stay exactly where they belong: between you and your doctor. We submit claims on your behalf to all PPO carriers so you can focus on your health rather than your paperwork.

Insurance Information

We Work With All PPO Plans

River Valley Dental is an out-of-network provider with all dental insurance carriers. That does not mean your insurance goes unused. We process and submit claims directly to your PPO insurance plan so that you can still receive any out-of-network reimbursement your plan provides. Many PPO plans include out-of-network benefits, and our team will file on your behalf for all major carriers.

Common carriers we file with include:

  • Delta Dental
  • MetLife
  • Cigna
  • Aetna
  • Guardian
  • Principal
  • UnitedHealthcare

Please note that we do not bill Medicare or Medicaid.

What Out-of-Network Care Means for You

Your Care, Your Decisions

Understanding the difference between in-network and out-of-network dental care helps you make the most of your benefits. When a practice is in-network with an insurance company, the insurance plan controls which treatments are approved and at what reimbursement rate. When a practice is out-of-network, your doctor’s clinical recommendations are not subject to insurance approval. The conversation about what care you need happens with your provider, not with an insurance company.

At River Valley Dental, we believe your oral health decisions should stay between you and your dental team. That philosophy is at the heart of why we practice fee-for-service dentistry. You receive the full clinical picture, honest recommendations, and the freedom to decide how you want to move forward.

For patients coming to us from Pennsylvania, it is worth knowing that Pennsylvania Delta Dental out-of-network reimbursement rates are often higher than New Jersey rates, which can make out-of-network care a financially favorable option for PA-side patients. If you are a PA resident with Delta Dental coverage, your out-of-network benefits may go further than you expect.

Frequently Asked Questions

We know navigating dental insurance raises a lot of questions. Here are a few we hear most often from patients in Hunterdon County and the surrounding Delaware Valley.

Yes. We submit claims to all PPO plans on your behalf. You are responsible for payment at the time of service, and any reimbursement from your insurance is returned directly to you according to the out-of-network terms of your plan.

You still have excellent options. River Valley Dental offers an in-house membership plan starting at around $25 per month, which provides access to preventive care and a discount on treatment without deductibles, benefit maximums, or insurance approval requirements. CareCredit, Cherry financing, and HSA/FSA payments are also accepted.

Not necessarily. Most PPO plans include out-of-network benefits, which means your plan may still reimburse a portion of your care. The amount varies by plan, but our team is happy to help you understand what to expect before your appointment. Call us at (609) 397-8833 and we can walk through your options with you.
