Dentist | River Valley Dental

Rooted in Service, Driven by Science

Dr. Andrew Tang grew up in Freehold, New Jersey, shaped by the example of hard-working immigrant parents who instilled in him a deep sense of purpose and a commitment to serving others. That foundation drove him toward science, leading him to pursue a degree in biotechnology at Rutgers University, where a formative experience assisting his grandfather, a now-retired general dentist, revealed something he hadn’t expected: dentistry sits at a rare and compelling intersection of medicine and art. It was a realization that stuck.

“I have come to except the highest levels of professionalism from the front desk team, to the hygienists, and the doctors. Start to finish, a stellar experience every time. The care is thorough and takes into consideration different levels of comfort.
I would not go anywhere else.”

Education & Training

A proud Scarlet Knight through and through, Dr. Tang earned his doctorate from the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine, one of the most clinically rigorous programs in the country. During dental school, he threw himself into research. He was selected to represent Rutgers through the ADA/Dentsply Sirona Student Clinician Research Program. This nationally competitive distinction brought him to dental conferences across the United States to present his findings.

After earning his degree, Dr. Tang completed a residency training program at Hackensack University Medical Center, where he gained advanced clinical experience and honed the surgical skills that now set him apart in the practice. He has also dedicated meaningful time to public health, providing care for underserved communities and reflecting the same spirit of service his parents modeled from the beginning.

What He Brings to River Valley Dental

Dr. Tang joined Dr. Bydalek at River Valley Dental with a rare combination: a research-minded, technology-forward sensibility paired with a genuine warmth that puts patients at ease. He brought with him an oral surgery background that expanded the scope of care the practice can offer, allowing more patients to receive comprehensive treatment under one roof, without the inconvenience of unnecessary specialist referrals.

His interest in cutting-edge technology was a natural fit. When he met Dr. Bydalek, a dentist with a longstanding reputation for investing in the most advanced tools in the field, the two connected immediately. The Solea drill-less laser, CEREC same-day crowns, 3D scan technology, and Diagnodent laser cavity detection aren’t just features of the practice; they reflect a shared philosophy that better technology means better, more comfortable care for every patient who walks through the door.

Dr. Tang believes that patients deserve to feel informed, not just treated. His appointments are collaborative by design and unhurried, so options are explained clearly, and treatment decisions are made together.

Outside the Office

When he’s not practicing, Dr. Tang can usually be found spending time with his wife, Steph, and their affectionate dog, Cosmo. Music has been a constant thread throughout his life. He plays guitar and writes and mixes his own electronic music, channeling the same blend of technical precision and creative expression that drew him to dentistry in the first place.

Dr. Mark Bydalek

FOUNDER, RIVER VALLEY DENTAL

“It is with great personal satisfaction and our Bydalek Dental team’s privilege to offer quality compassionate care to our community. We all know that where we live is nothing short of extraordinary. Our neighbors are hard working, engaged, interesting, and above all nice people that demand and deserve the best. We’ve worked hard as a family and team to build a service business that we are proud of and enjoy.”

Dentist. Artist. Farmer. Father to two awesome kids, Alexandria and Ian. Husband to Maureen. Grateful son. Diehard Hokie and Philly fan. Skier. SSI Diver. Outdoor enthusiast.

‍Dr. Bydalek was raised in a military and artistic family and grew up travelling. Declining a scholarship to pursue an art degree in his senior year in high school, Dr. Bydalek decided to combine his artistic talent from his mom’s Dutch side of the family, and follow in his dad’s footsteps, a retired Air Force dentist, to pursue the field of dentistry where he felt he could use his skills to make the greatest impact.

Dr. Bydalek obtained his undergrad at Temple University and then decided to remain at Temple for his doctorate at the Kornberg School of Dentistry. His passion in dentistry is cosmetic design because creating a new smile, or making a tooth that actually looks and functions like a tooth, takes time, talent and care to get it right. Staying on top of the latest advancements in dental care theory, technique and technology remains priority in his office and that is why he continues to invest in it. RiverValleyDental was the first practice in Hunterdon currently to offer Solea drill-less laser dentistry; in addition, the office has CEREC digital crown and implant dentistry, 3D Scan technology, Diagnodent laser cavity detection, and more.

Somewhere in throws of raising a family and beginning to really understand and value the necessity of proper nutrition, healthy lifestyle including enough sleep and exercise, Dr. Bydalek has decided to take on the current recommendation by the American Dental Association community to have a conversation with his patients with regard to their overall health and take ownership in playing a role in their overall care.
